On February 11th, 2011, the ceremony for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany (Designpreis) 2011 was hosted at the Frankfurt Exhibition Building in Germany. ROBRADY design was recognized with a silver award for the db0 3.0 Folding Electric bike. This is quite an honor as this is a closed competition – government officials must have nominated products and they must have already won an international award. The db0 was nominated by the Bundesministerium fur Wirtschaft und Technologie (Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology) in Berlin. ROBRADY was qualified based on the Universal Design Award. The Designpreis award is the highest official recognition for design excellence in Germany.
ROBRADY was represented by Michael Spieckermann and Claus Fischer of Innovative Bikes (db0 distributors) located in Ludenscheid, Germany. Innovative Bikes distributes the db0 throughout Germany and neighboring countries. Their website is http://www.innovativebikes.de.
The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany is the country‘s highest distinction in the field of design. It is known as the “Prize of Prizes”. This year, the organizers of the Design Award of the Federal Republic of announced a record number of entries – over 1,500 products were submitted for the competition. 25 winners in the product design category and 24 winners in the communication design category received the Design Award.
